In Holy Baptism, through Godís Word combined with water, you are received as a child in Godís family and are promised the gifts of forgiveness and eternal life. These gifts are freely given by God and are undeserved by us.

Adults will be instructed in the basics of Christianity prior to their baptismal commitment to live a life of faithfulness to God.

Infants and children are presented for Holy Baptism by their Christian parents who with the Church promise to faithfully ...

  • Come with the child to worship
  • Provide Biblical instruction along with a study of the Ten Commandments, the Lordís Prayer, and the Apostlesí Creed.
  • and model Christian living.

Parents responsibility is fulfilled when young adults individually affirm Baptismal promises at the Rite of Confirmation.

Baptisms are scheduled to occur during Sunday morning worship services. Baptismal planning includes a meeting with the pastors for instruction and date selection. Inasmuch as Baptism is a free gift of God, it is free of charge to you.

Here are some helpful suggestions for preparing for oneís Baptismal celebration:

Each week the Lord comes to us and makes Himself known to us in very special ways. One of these ways is in the gift of Holy Communion.

Begun the night before His death, Jesus gave His disciples a meal of bread and wine and through this meal, the Lord promised that He Himself would be with us to love us, forgive us, heal us, restore our relationship with God and with others, and strengthen our faith and our service in His Name. Jesus wants us to have these gifts and He wants to be with us. This is both a reverent time as we consider our Lordís sacrifices and death on our behalf, but it is also a joyful event in that the Lord rose from the dead, He lives and He is.

All baptized Christians are invited to come to His Supper; all others Ė including young children below the age of 6 who have not yet received First Communion training Ė are invited to come forward to receive a blessing from our Lord. The pastor will know that you desire this blessing when you how your head upon reaching the altar rail.

For those receiving communion, it is normally distributed as follows:

Stand to receive the Elements. Children not yet receiving communion are encouraged to accompany their parents for a Pastoral Blessing. After you have received the wafer from the Pastor on your side of the church, please walk to the person holding the tray. When the tray of communion glasses is presented to you, select wine (amber colored) or grape juice (purple colored) according to your personal preference. Should you have difficulty removing the communion glass from the tray indicate to the Server your preference and it will be presented to you. After you have communed, return to your pew by the side aisle.

On the first Sunday of the month, Communion is offered by kneeling in groups at the altar rail which gives more time for quiet reflection with our Lord. This kneeling Communion happens by:

Kneel or stand to receive the Elements. Children not yet communing are encouraged to accompany their parents for a Pastoral Blessing. When the bread is distributed, elevate your hand to receive it. If you wish to receive wine by the chalice, fold your hands as the tray of glasses goes by. The Chalicist will notice that you do not have a glass in your hand and will present the chalice to you. Grasp the bottom of the chalice and tip it toward you as it is presented. If you wish to receive wine or grape juice from the trays, select wine (amber colored) or grape juice (purple colored) according to your preference. Should you have difficulty removing communion glasses from the tray, indicate to the Server your preference and it will be presented to you. After you have communed, return to your pew by the side aisle, depositing your empty glass in the trays at the end of the first pew.
